Kootenay Lake Ferry

6). This is a sensational travel bargain! You get a 35 minute cruise on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. On a sunny day, the lake sparkles and it's gorgeous. That was the case when I rode the ferry in 1998. It was cloudy yesterday, but equally beautiful, with clouds scudding across the mountains that surround the vast lake. I reckon Kootenay Lake is as gorgeous as Lake Tahoe, with about one tenth as much development. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that it's free!
