Sawtooths!

Today I took the long route from Boise to Sun Valley, through the wilds of central Idaho and around the Sawtooth mountains. It was the first time I had ever driven this route, despite the fact that I have lived within a thousand miles of the area for most of my life. Very neglectful! The Sawtooths are aptly named...jagged, towering, formidable, magnificent. It was a sparkling fall day, around 68 degrees, crystal clear. Cruising past the mountains with the top down on the Solara was a delight!

This view is from Galena Point, over 8000 feet above sea level. You really need a pan shot to capture the sweeping magnificence of the mountains. Incidentially, the Salmon River, famous for its wild, untamed rapids, has its source in the valley below. This is absolutely fabulous country; I should not have neglected it in the past and will return soon. This is my first visit to Idaho since 1980.
