More Wyoming Scenes

Two days worth of Wyoming shots...yesterday morning, after overnight thunderstorms, moisture lingered around the Tetons.

Too bad this picture doesn't have an aroma.  Sage after rain smells sweet, fresh, and wild.  Grind a bit between your fingers, inhale, and...aaaah.

From Inspiration Point at Jenny Lake I watched the shuttle boat departing.

This morning Grand Teton was floodlit by the rising sun.

The resident moose was enjoying his brekky as was I.  The main restaurant at Jackson Lake Lodge has a panoramic view of the mountains and meadows.

Yes, the Lizards are in residence.

Morning on the Snake River.

A placid day.

Now I'm driving southeast, in central Wyoming.  The large rock nearest the camera is Split Rock.  The Oregon, Mormon, and California trails passed this way, as did the Pony Express.  There was probably as much activity here 150 years ago as there is now...it's still very lightly settled.  But where I can drive 350 miles from Jackson Lake to Laramie in leisurely fashion, it took the pioneers about a month to traverse that distance back then.  Those folks were tougher than I.

Quintessential central Wyoming.  The entire state...almost 100,000 square miles...still has fewer people than reside within the city limits of  Denver...no suburbs included.

A snow fence...ubiquitous along Wyoming highways.  It is perfectly capable of snowing now...Sep 5.  But not today...the mercury was well up in the 80s.

Until the thunderstorms.  Good rain shafts out of this one.

Hard to get a lightning pic without a tripod, but I managed one while driving on I-80.
