A couple nights ago, Rhonda and I ventured to Arches National Park for sunset. I had been to the park several times before, but never at this time of day. It was magical. Here's Balanced Rock at dusk.
I neglect the "golden hour" too much, the hour before sunset (and after sunrise) when the pros get their best photos. You can see how it gets its name.
Yes, I'm having happy hour right now, but this formation resembled a demon to me...a couple of ragged eye slits, a bashed in nose below, maybe a fang or two...blow up the pic for better detail.
Double Arch at dusk.
Rhonda kickin' it among the rocks.
A dead juniper rises into the darkening sky.
We had some high clouds, which always make a fine sunset. Unfortunately, the clouds also virtually blotted out the rising full moon, which would really have been spectacular.
A crowd gathers at the north window as the sun sets. Rhonda and I joined them, and sloated out on the rocks for awhile. Everyone was in a mellow mood, so the vibes were fine.
