Bay Area Blossoms

It's been a somewhat unusual rainy season hereabouts.  There was some good rain in early October, but after that moisture was very sparse all the way through February.  This was followed by ample rains in March and April.  The end result is that the hills didn't green up until March, over a month behind schedule, but they're still green in early May, when they're usually well into the brownup season.  Edgewood Park, in Redwood City, is well known for its fine spring flowers.  A docent clued me in on the Clarkia Trail, and sure enough, there were many fine flowers there, including this owls clover.

It was a cool windy day, as nicely shown by this shot of flowers and grass bent by the breeze.

Macro shot of blue eyed grass at Edgewood.

Nice poppy macro.

I've always loved the rolling oaklands of California in the springtime, with the grass a brilliant shade of green.

Now I'm at the coast, at Bean Hollow State Beach on the San Mateo coast.  Don't know what this flower is, but it's pretty.

Douglas' Iris grows in profusion on the coast.

Nice macro of some small sunflowers.

Coastal lupines.

The San Mateo coast in springtime.

Don't know what this flower is either.  The trail at Bean Hollow passed a fine diversity of flowers.
