Exploring Acadia

After 19 days of heading generally eastward, I finally made it to the Atlantic Ocean at Acadia National Park. This is a fine park, where the ocean, forest, and sky join in a granite interface. There are many slotation opportunities where masses of granite meet the sea. Whilst sloating, one hears only the soft rush of the ocean; the tinkling of the buoy bells; and maybe the squawk of a seagull. Boats scurry about, both commercial fishing craft and sightseeing vessels. The vegetation is reminiscent of the high Sierra or the Colorado Rockies, Hudsonian in nature. This reflects the climate; pleasant in summer, but cold and stormy much of the time over the rest of the year.
This is Sand Beach, the only sandy beach in Acadia. It is actually quite large, a couple hundred yards long. The water is about...like Montereys....cold.
