swamp stomp

I've been in south Florida for over a week, and have done quite a bit of beaching and also exploring inland. The latter consists mainly of swamp stomps, eased in most places by boardwalks. The Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, near Naples, has the grandaddy of all boardwalks...it's 2 and a quarter miles long. You see all kinds of birds and vegetation. In the Everglades an elevation difference of five feet can dictate whether the vegetation is sawgrass that sits in the water most of the time, or pine trees that are hardly ever flooded. There's a pic of the boardwalk in this group of photos, as well as a white Ibis. Blow the picture up to get a better view of him.
